UGA buses are available to support the University of Georgia community for trips that support the school’s mission. Transportation & Parking Services has a limited number of buses available for charter service on a first-come first-serve basis. Our 40-foot transit buses are capable of seating 35-37 passengers with room for standees depending on the distance traveled. We can also provide drivers for University Rental Vans upon request.

Charter Bus Policies

  • UGA buses must remain within a 70-mile radius of Athens. Buses cannot leave the State of Georgia or remain at a destination overnight.
  • Per Department of Transportation regulations, there is a 10-hour maximum limit for driving. Any out-of-town charter will need to be less than 10 hours total, or will incur extra costs to pay for additional drivers to provide the service.
  • For out-of-town charters, the driver must have somewhere to park the vehicle during the event. If onsite parking is unavailable, the requesting department will need to arrange suitable parking for the driver.
  • One University faculty or staff member must accompany and supervise riders on each bus requested.
  • No open containers of food or beverage are allowed on the buses. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited on buses.
  • Charter Requests cannot be approved and processed more than 2 months in advance of the service date.
  • Due to service requirements on campus, we cannot provide charter service during the first two weeks of each semester, during academic finals weeks, on the Friday prior to a football home game, or on home football game weekends. View the dates for UGA football games here.
