Inclement Weather
Passenger safety is the first priority of Campus Transit. Decisions to suspend service will be made in close coordination with university administrators and the UGA Emergency Operations Center. In the event of inclement weather, Campus Transit will adjust service in the following manner:
- In the event of an early closing of the University of Georgia due to inclement weather conditions, Campus Transit will operate vans and buses for one hour after the official closing. Campus Transit may continue to provide on-campus transit services beyond that time as road and weather conditions allow.
- In the event of a delayed opening, transit service will begin one hour prior to the official opening as conditions allow. Passengers should be aware of the possibility of road closures and route detours and plan accordingly.
- In the event of a full-day closure, transit service may be suspended until the university reopens.
- Notifications and alerts about bus and paratransit services are available on the UGA mobile app via the UGA Bus feature and at tps.uga.edu/alerts.
- For the official status of the university in case of inclement weather, visit emergency.uga.edu.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning
Campus Transit follows all watches and warnings posted by the National Weather Service. In the case of a severe thunderstorm warning, Campus Transit will monitor the proximity of the storm and conditions such as wind speed and hail to determine whether transit services should be suspended for the safety of passengers and operators. If service is suspended, operators will stop their vehicle at the closest safe location and assist passengers in evacuating to the nearest shelter. Service will resume as quickly as possible after the severe weather has cleared, in coordination with the UGA Emergency Operations Center.
Tornado Warning
In the case of a tornado warning, all transit services will be suspended immediately for the safety of passengers and operators. Operators will stop their vehicle at the closest safe location and assist passengers in evacuating to the nearest tornado shelter. Service will resume as quickly as possible after the severe weather has cleared, in coordination with the UGA Emergency Operations Center.
